Low Grade

Our low grade refining service specializes in refining the lowest grade materials into their purest form. Our greatest skill is in recovering maximum value from even the most challenging materials. Our team of experts is here to provide a reliable, efficient, and an on-time refining process, so you can get the best return on your precious metals.

OUR LOW GRADE REFINING PROCESS

With LGS Refining you will receive a full array of excellence. Our state-of-the-art technology, analytic expertise, and proprietary formulas ensures our customers the highest possible yields in the refining industry.

Our areas of expertise lay in refining for Gold, Silver, Platinum, and Palladium. Results are then certified according to ASTM standards and reported back to our clients.

The list of what we process as low grade is extensive, for example we refine polishing dust, filings, sweeps, filters, vacuum bags, carpet, wipes, towels, slag, sludge, ingot paper and more.

We offer a vast array of refining services, but not limited to:

  • Polishing Dust

  • Bench Sweeps

  • Filings

  • Filters

  • Slag

  • Vacuum Bags

  • Carpeting

  • Wipes

  • Emery

  • Ingot Paper

  • Dental Grinds

  • Gold Filled

  • Gold Plated

To refine the low grade by-products, the material must go through several steps, processes and specialized equipment. A typical low grade lot takes numerous days to refine and here is why.

Each container or lot received goes through an extensive check-in and sorting process. Materials received are separated, recorded, weighed, and pictures are taken. The material then goes in-line to our thermal oxidizers. This will usually take 4-8 hours depending on materials, and sometimes overnight. This process will incinerate all organic waste. Materials are then milled into an ultra fine powder. The crushed powder is then sifted into a super fine ash and the oversize is separated, melted and analyzed.  The sifted ash is then further homogenized and dry samples are taken for analysis.

The sweeps presented for assay should be free flowing, dry powder, free of any oversize particles and homogeneous in color. The most common analytical method we utilize is a Fire-Assay. We follow strict ASTM guidelines when performing this step to ensure and certify 99.99% accuracy on your results. In addition to other analytical techniques such as chemical analysis, induction coupled plasma (ICP) or atomic absorption spectroscopy (AAS).

The entire process from beginning to end takes days, if not weeks. Contact us to find out more.
